Additive Manufacturing of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Composites: The Effect of Fiber Content on Compressive Properties
نویسندگان
چکیده
The additive manufacturing (AM) of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites continue to grow due the attractive strength-to-weight and modulus-to-weight ratios afforded by combined with ease processibility achievable through AM technique. Short design factors such as content effects have been shown play determinant roles in mechanical performance fabricated CFRP composites. However, this has only investigated for tensile flexural properties, no investigations date on compressive properties content. This study examined axial transverse testing CF-ABS contents from 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% samples printed build orientations, comparison compression properties. results were that increasing short-fiber thermoplastic slightly reduced strength modulus. it increased ductility toughness. 20% provided overall most decent 0–30% studied. composite demonstrates a generally higher property than because deformation ability which characterizes loaded parts, observed different failure modes.

Effect of Fiber Surface Treatment on Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polyamide 6 Composites
Ozone modification method and air-oxidation were used for the surface treatment of polyacrylonitrile(PAN)-based carbon fiber. The surface characteristics of carbon fibers were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The interfacial properties of carbon fiber reinforced polyamide 6 (CF/PA6) composites were investigated by means of the single fiber pull-out tests. As a result...

This work investigates the feasibility of using recycled high density polyethylene (rHDPE), recycled polypropylene (rPP) and old newsprint fiber (ONP) to manufacture fiber reinforced composites. The boards were made through air-forming and hot press. The effects of the fiber loading and coupling agent content on tensile, flexural, internal bond properties and water absorption and thickness swel...

Bismaleimide (BMI) resins are developed very rapidly due to the demands of the defense and aerospace industries. They are cross-linked polymers which process like epoxy resins but have an upper use temperature of 230°C, compared to the epoxy upper use temperature of 175°C. Also due to the available intrinsic properties of BMI resins such as higher thermal stability and lower toxicity than those...

This work presents an insight into the effect of conductive filler content on both electrical and thermal properties of a polymer composite system. The electrical conductivity of an insulating polymer can be achieved by dispersing conducting fillers (e.g., metal, graphite powder, carbon black, carbon fiber) in the polymer matrix. The resulting materials are referred to as conducting polymer com...
